Warlingham Families Have Been Swimming With Us for Years
Warlingham does not have a public swimming pool of its own, which leaves local families deciding where to travel for lessons. A good number choose L&M Swimming Club, a short drive south in Caterham.
We have been teaching since 1993, founded by Lesley Ryland and Moira Brooks, and we are still run by them rather than by a franchise head office. Classes are small, the instructors are the same faces week to week, and children are grouped by ability rather than age.
If your child is nervous about water — and plenty are — that consistency is what turns a reluctant first lesson into confident swimming. We teach families from neighbouring Chelsham, Selsdon and Biggin Hill too, and from across East Surrey.
Your Nearest Pool: Oakhyrst Grange, Caterham
For most Warlingham families the natural choice is our Caterham pool at Oakhyrst Grange School on Stanstead Road, CR6 6AF.
The water is held at a constant 30°C and there is a shallow circular area around 45cm deep, which makes it a far kinder place to start than a cold municipal pool. The main pool is 10m by 15m with a maximum depth of 2.4m.
One thing worth knowing before you arrive: the school car park cannot be used for parking or turning until after 6pm on weekdays. Please allow for that when planning your journey.
Stronger swimmers may prefer our four-lane competitive pool at Woldingham School, also within easy reach.

Lesley Ryland and Moira Brooks founded the club over three decades ago. Many of the families we teach now are second generation.
Qualified & Checked
All instructors are Swim England qualified and hold Enhanced DBS checks. We are members of the Institute of Swimming and hold STA safety accreditation.
Small Groups, Warm Water
Classes are kept small so every swimmer gets attention, and our Caterham pool is held at a constant 30°C.
